Thermal paper is specially used for thermal printer and thermal fax machine. Its quality directly affects the printing quality and storage time, and even affects the service life of printer and fax machine.
At present, the thermal label paper on the market is mixed, and the state has not issued the national standard, and many users do not know how to identify the quality of thermal paper, which provides convenience for many businesses to make and keep low-quality thermal paper, causing losses to users. The light is that the storage time of thermal printing paper becomes shorter, the handwriting is blurred, and the printer is seriously damaged. Here's how to identify the advantages and disadvantages of thermal paper to avoid being fooled again.
The thermal printing paper is generally divided into three layers. The bottom layer is the paper base, the second layer is the thermal coating, and the third layer is the protective layer. The thermal coating or protective layer mainly affects the quality of the thermal printing paper. If the coating of the thermal paper is uneven, the printing quality will be significantly reduced due to the dark color in some places and the light color in some places. If the chemical formula of the thermal coating is unreasonable, the storage time of the thermal printing paper will become very short, Good printing paper can be stored for 5 years after printing (under the condition of normal temperature and avoiding direct sunlight). Now there is a long-term thermal paper that can be stored for 10 years. However, if the formula of thermal coating is unreasonable, the thermal printing paper may only be stored for a few months.
The protective coating is also very important for the storage time after printing. It can absorb part of the light that leads to the chemical reaction of the thermal coating, slow down the deterioration of the printing paper, and protect the thermal element of the printer from damage. However, if the protective coating is uneven, it will not only greatly reduce the protection of the thermal coating, but even the fine particles of the protective coating will fall off during printing and rub the thermal element of the printer, Cause damage to the printing thermal element.
Identification method of thermal paper label
1. Appearance: if the paper is very white, it indicates that the protective coating and thermal coating of the paper are unreasonable, too much phosphor is added, and the better paper should be slightly green. The paper finish is not high or looks uneven, indicating that the paper coating is uneven. If the paper looks very strong reflected light, too much phosphor is added, and the quality is not very good.
2. Fire baking: the method of fire baking is also very simple. Heat the back of the paper with a lighter. If the color on the paper is brown after heating, it indicates that the thermal formula is unreasonable and the storage time may be relatively short. If there are small stripes or uneven color blocks on the black part of the paper, it indicates that the coating is uneven. The paper with better quality should be black-green (with a little green) after heating, and the color block is uniform, and the color gradually fades from the center to the surrounding.
3. Comparison and identification of sunlight exposure: put the printed paper in the sun after smearing it with a fluorescent pen (this can accelerate the reaction of the thermal coating to light). Which paper turns black the fastest indicates that the shorter the storage time is.
